My little boy is growing up. I'm so proud of the person he's becoming. He is such a great older brother, full of fun, teasing everyone unmercifully. He keeps his baptismal covenants, and has such a wonderful testimony of his Savior. He has done more then participate in boy scouts he has truly embraced it. He loves, and has been so proud that his grandpa has been the president. He follows the code & mission fully. He is constantly looking for what else he can do with the scouting program. McKay is still my cuddle bug. He'll always sit right next to you, scratch your back, hold your hand or just put his arms around you. He also loves to create things. I'm constantly out of tape, can't find my scissors, projects taped all over the house. A few years back I remember he had taken the floss and rigged the front door to the fridge door, you had to close one to open the other. He is so thoughtful he's always making breakfast for everyone. He has become quite the little chief.
For his birthday he got to do most boys dream. He got to ride in a Porsche race car prior to the race. To catch up to the pack the driver had to drive faster then allowed to of which McKay of course loved. He wore a orange shirt to match the car. It was a fantastic birthday experience. One his father is envious of.
Josie, Abby & Molly
Poor Molly, Kimball kept driving her around in circles.
I think she got a little sick.
McKay waves as they came in.
McKay climbed out the window because "that's how you do it Mom".
Abby gave McKay one of her favorite toys.
CAUGHT! For dinner we went to the park. McKay got a new football from Max. After dinner & presents they played a little "footy". I saw it coming, McKay took out Kimball & took off. But Kimball hung onto the ball. Good Job Kimball!
I've had one of "those" days. In quick summery, started @ 5:30 as normal these days. Kimball came running into my room trying to find Craig who is out of town. He's now mad at me and sure I've done something with his dad. He ran to the garage to check to see if his car or "ride"(scooter) was missing. My mother will be proud, the door was locked. After I unlocked it he hung out there for about 45 min. Which worked out perfect. McKay had gotten up @ 5:30 as well to make breakfast for everyone (eggs and toast, YUM). It's Friday which means spelling tests and math homework turn in day (quick review and double check needed). Today was also the day of our frozen dinner group exchange. Which I love, I normally make them the day before, but I'd been sick and am still trying to pick up the pieces. So six dinners to make by 10 a.m.. Jose has preschool today (picture day :) ). And then I realized they were probably celebrating McKay's B-day @ school. Because he communicates less then a 15 year old I didn't get the message from his teacher till I grilled him on it this morning. The info was, yes - birthday being celebrated, no - mom's don't come, yes - treats given - out by first recess (10:00). I then also remembered I had a post carnival meeting/lunch/party @ 11:00. So this is how it went:
5:30- 7:40
*McKay makes breakfast as I start browning hamburger. Kimball hangs in garage mad @ me.
*Check math packets while eating
*Redress the older kids
*Redo hair
*Give spelling tests while chopping onions (quite tricky while crying)
*Bindi got lose in the garage while Abby was trying to comfort Kimball (I had to climb on top of the cabinet to get her)
*Convince the kids to take the bus & have school lunch (now not only Kimball's not happy with me the older two aren't either)
7:40-8:30
*While sauteing the onions get Joise bathed for pictures
*round brush her hair
*redress her (hallelujah she wanted to ware pants today, but it's picture day andthey don't fit anymore. Bummer to bad it was picture day or I'd have sent her in 'em)
*Add rest of ingredients but realized the tomato sauce was expired so needed to get some more while at the store getting birthday treats
*Buckle up 2 car seats and were off.
8:55-10:20
*Dropped off Josie
*Went to Macy's, credit card declined again because Craig's using it in Cal. Love that Capital One tries to protect us, but this happens every time. We even have it on the account that the card will be used at the same time in two different states. But of course they still try to keep us "safe".
*Dropped off 100 Grands for McKays treats
*finished dinners and arrived to exchange 20 min. late. (I'm glad they're easygoin' gals)
11:00-11:30
*Get Joise and Winnter from school (Winny comes to play on Fun Friend Fridayafter school) I'm 5 min. late. Jose is crying, not because I'm late, but her teacher jokingly said to three kids left. "Maybe I'll get to take you home as my pets". They all laughed, but Jose sobbed, she didn't want to be a "pet". PMS day. sigh
*Run home to get Kimball dressed
*Get to Carnival lunch with the kids (late). It was great fun, bounce house, greatfood, good ideas, great people, reimbursements etc. Jose lost her blanket there...fun tonight.
And the day doesn't stop. Good but crazy, (notice no shower for myself was mentioned). But as crazy as it was & as mean as Kimball was to me (he's always mean to me but it's double today because he's still mad because he's sure I did something with his dad). I can't help but laugh and smile.
On these days I love to pull up some of my light hearted "FUNNIES" to end the day.
Make sure you "pause" the music on the side bar before starting the videos & radio broadcast.
For those who have sons, this list may ring a bell. For those of you who don't have sons, you may find out a interesting things when you have sons, like...
1.) A king size water bed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.
2.) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.
3.) A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.
4.) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.
5.) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.
6.) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.
7.) When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already too late.
8.) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.
9.) A six-year old boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old man says they can only do it in the movies.
10.) Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old boy.
11.) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.
12.) Super glue is forever.
13.) No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.
14.) Pool filters do not like Jell-O.
15.) VCR's do not eject "PB & J" sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do. 16.) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.
17.) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.
18.) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.
19.) Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.
20.) The fire department has a 5-minute response time.
21.) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.
22.) It will, however, make cats dizzy.
23.) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.
I have a cockatiel. I love my cockatiel. It is fun to play with... me. She has onngish reddish ciec's. Hr feather's is black and lite yellow. And her top of her hed is darck yellow. We go to the store alot to git ting's for her sent's we got it. Se is a gril. I love love love love love love love love love love her so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so s o so so so so so so so so so so so much. she is littler then she's spost to. But i love every body as well as her . And iher named her Bindi. THE END!
Once the poll closed we went right down to get his haircut. He did try to convince me that the agreement was to get his haircut in December not now. Nice try McKay. The two girls and I wrestled him in the car and headed to the nearest salon. When we walked in they asked who was getting their haircut. To my surprise all three of them raised their hands. There were three girls available so it worked out perfect.
Once McKay got into the chair I could tell he was a little nervous. At one point I thought he was about to cry. He was great though.
He's loving his haircut. And I am amazed at the change, not just the look of his hair, but his entire person. He seems so much happier and lighter.
The following day I asked him how his day was with his new do. He told me recess was so much better because his hair wasn't hitting his eyes during football.
Last Thursday we had our school carnival. The theme was "It's a Small World". Craig and I did the food again this year; pizza, brownie & a drink. So of course we were Italy! It was so great. I had this really cleaver plan; I would hang my old outdoor Christmas lights, that are big circles, from the rafters of the pavilion to make it into an Italian Cafe. My cute neighbor said she would watch my kids so I could get things set up. I thought it would at the most take an hour to set up. WHAT WAS I THINKING!! I forgot how I hate stringing lights, hence my new Christmas tree with lights already on them. It took me two hours just to string the lights. Hopefully I've learned. No more cleaver plans.
It was so great! Mom, Katheryn & Whitney came to help for the first part. Then the girls on the tennis team came to help serve.
We called it "Cougars to Cougars". They are so great. I could never do this without all of their help.
The kids had a great time. McKay hung with Max & Tom & Ab hung with her friend Amanda. Josie was so excited to get her picture taken, face painted and her hair colored (of course) pink. Kimball loved the train ride. While we were over there he saw balloons and took off to take them off the board they were on. I had to run as fast as I could, the balloons were attached to the board for darts. (sigh) That kid.
I can never thank all the people who helped enough. I don't know if they will ever know how much that meant to me.
Yes it's two pieces of toast with a knife sticking out, while plugged in. What you can't see very well in the picture is that the second slot from the right is FILLED with butter. This for some crazy reason has become one of Kimball's favorite things to do. Any time the toaster is left out this is what happens. However this is the best job yet. It took almost a role of paper towels and a handful of q-tips to get it out. I did get most of the butter but if you use the right two it still smokes a little. I keep hoping that the butter will keep melting and soon it will be as good new. I know, I'm sure it's wishful thinking.
While we were at Petco buying crickets Kimball stood next to the automatic sliding door. As people came in and out the door obviously, would open and close. He would place his hand in the door seeing how close he could get the door to his hand as it closed.
When he sits in the shopping cart he will, without fail, at some point decide to move to the back if he's in the front, or the front if he's in the back. Often with out any notice at all he'll climb right out and fall to the floor. If I strap him in he screams bloody murder the entire time, while reaching for any strange man that walks by. I'm sure people think I've stolen him.
Last week while Craig was out mowing the lawn, his little buddy had his lawnmower to help out. The other kids and I were inside tidying up. One of my favorite things this time of the year is being able to have the windows open. As I passed the window I heard a woman who lives down the street say "I think he belongs to you". Obviously that caught my attention. I was mortified and hid behind the wall so she couldn't see me (you would think I was 4). Craig calmly replied like it was no big deal. "Yep he does. Thanks." She was really great about it and just mentioned how her kids are wanderers too. (She had found him out in the middle of the road thats to the side of us, which is just down from the crest of the hill.)
He only has a few weeks until his 2nd birthday. If he makes it we will be throwing the largest celebration we've had yet.
Last Friday I had the girls on the tennis team over for a new year team dinner. After dinner we were playing a board game down stairs. Things were a little chaotic with the competition of the game that was going on. I was pretty focused on the game and almost didn't notice McKay and Abby sneaking around behind me and drop a bag on the ground right were the majority of the girls were. After a brief moment of thought, wondering what they were up to I realized that inside the bag was probably McKay's pet lizard Freddie. I asked one of the girls sitting closest to the bag to peak in and see if Freddie was indeed in there. This got the attention of the rest of the girls. Chie looked inside none to cautiously which was surprising to me since when she saw Freddie in there she proceeded to jump higher then I would have thought possible from her sitting position. In addition, Jocelyn sitting on the couch behind her screamed and jumped as well which scared the rest of the girls who all joined in. As I turned to see were McKay and Abby were all I could hear was there giggling. This all just reinforced McKay and Abby's joy in playing tricks on people. Of which I am becoming the victim of way to often.
Today was such a wonderful sabbath. We had stake conference that was actually broad casted from the Marriott Center to all the stakes in Utah & Wasatch county. It was wonderful! (minus the normal mishaps from the kids) They all told wonderful stories. Elder Packer spoke of the times he lived and raised his kids here in our little Lindon. Sis. Dibb spoke about the "real things" of life. Pres. Uchtdorf made me laugh when he told us how when flying from Germany to L.A. as they flew over Provo he would get on the public address system and let everyone know they were flying over BYU. He said that being the flight captain was great because he had control of the address system. The spirit in the meeting was wonderful. I'm so grateful to be a member of this church. I love my Savior. I am grateful for the sacrifices my ancestors made for me. To be married to a worthy priesthood holder & have temples so close for us. How did I get so lucky?
Mom, Kat & Whit came over for dinner. The kids love when they come to visit. After that we decided to go for a drive up the canyon to see if any leaves had changed yet. (McKay chose to stay home.) We walked around Sundance.
As we walked to the pond it was picturesque. A man was drawing next to the pond and waterfall. While looking @ the fish he started feeding the fish bread from lunch. The fish were going crazy. He noticed how mesmerizing it was for the kids.
He was so kind. He showed the girls how to feed them & gave them the rest of the bread to break off and throw. They were going almost crazier then the fish. As we walked around I showed Josie some wild flowers, when she smelled them
she told me how bad they stunk. Kimball loved the place.
Poor Craig was constantly chasing him around. Abby loved the peace as much as Craig & I.

Fred is my new pet. He is bearded dragon lizard. He is a DAD. We love him in are family. It is really funny and cool. when he eat his food . We feed him crickets, worms, pink mice and a mix of salad, carrots, corn. He's really funny and he likes to play a lot. He's from Australia. And he like's to climb on my friend Max.
I was in charge on the activity for family home evening. We played flag football for family home evening. And my team lost. And I set it all up. And I put who is what. I and Abby and Kimball was on the RED and everyone else was on the YELLOW. We all had fun.
McKenzie and I had the opportunity to go to the US Open this past weekend. I was looking forward to this trip to educate myself on the modern game and McKenzie loves New York. It was a great weekend, I have been watching Federer and Nadal closely for years but had never seen them live. We arrived late on Thursday night, our flight was delayed. Thanks to the generosity of some friends McKenzie and I were picked up from the airport in a limo. It was fun and a ton easier then catching a cab. By the time we got to our hotel it was after 9pm. We walked up a couple of blocks to time square and bought some great food on the way (cheese pizza for me. I don't why but I love New York pizza, I crave it). The next day McKenzie and I went with our friends to the Open.
We got their at 11am and got back to the hotel at 1am in the morning. During that 14 hour time span we watched Federer, Janokvic, Roddick, Davenport, and many others. Also we had the opportunity, again due to the generosity of others, to have a great meal while we were there. I had a $68 lobster. Wow. For me it was the greatest of days. The next day I did the same thing 11 to probably 12 this time, watched Nadal, Safina, Murry etc, etc. Loved it again. Even got to sit court side for the Blake - Fish match. I could go on for ever. It was just AWESOME. McKenzie went with friends to two Broadway shows - Legally Blond and The Little Mermaid. She said she loved it but it couldn't have been as good as watching Nadal. The last day we went to Serendipity and had a frozen hot chocolate. McKenzie had been politely expressing her desire to go to this place which I was happy to attempt to work into the schedule without really understanding what it was about. Our friends walked with us to the Serendipity restaurant. Once we arrived they didn't feel the need to come in (it is a very small and unappealing restaurant from first impressions). I have to admit I was thinking myself this frozen hot chocolate can't be that good. Our friends left to go eat down the road and even called to let us know that they had seats for us when we were ready. Mate, once we got that frozen hot chocolate Serendipity will be the first place we stop on our next trip to NY.
It is just a drink, but it was amazing. All in all NY never seems to disappoint. Loved the food, the tennis, the company, and the FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE.
The other day I made myself some eggs on toast. Just as I sat down I heard the crack of an egg. It grabbed all my attention for the reason that no one else was upstairs with me except Kimball who is still not one yet. I turned swiftly as you could imagine and sure enough there is Kimball on a stool, cracking an egg on the frying pan, ready to cook himself some food. This kid is our fourth child and I have never seen such determination and focus. Needless to say I am a little worried about the teenage years if he makes it that far. I feel like most of my time at home is spent protecting him from himself. Love that Kimball
Our crazy clan is growing up. the craziest (aka The Boss or Craig) has just gotten a green scooter that he rides around town like a crazy man. M&M (aka McKenzie) is trying to catch up on technology by trying to start a blog page. Mr. Magoo (aka McKay) loves scouts and eats 3 bowls of cereal a day at least. Tinkerbell (aka Abby) can hit a tennis ball with her eyes closed. Princess Posie (aka Josephine) and her pink everything continues to be mothers shadow. Monkey Boy (aka Kimall) loves to fly on the big green machine with his dad.
