Josieism ~ Words of Wisdom

Our Josie Posie, as most know, is the most imaginative person.  While she & I were coloring the other day I asked her what she wanted to be when she "grew up".  (I sometimes lay in bed and wonder this about my kids.  I totally see her as my J K Rowling.)  She continued on about her story she was making up & telling herself.  I figured she didn't hear or didn't want me to interrupt her, so that was that.  The following day after I picked her up from preschool she looked at me and said the most amazing thing, "Mom when I grow up I want to be me".  I couldn't believe it.  a) that she had heard me b) she thought about it for a long time c) how deep!  I've thought about that a lot.  Wouldn't it be amazing if we were all happy with ourselves and wanted to be us?  I have made a promise to myself that I'll never ask another child what they want to be when they grow up.  I want them all to be themselves.

She is so creative and imaginative, and I'm so not.  I've tried really hard not to squash that out of her.  I came across this fantastic video.  I loved it!

My Ketchup

Because I hadn't posted for a while I did a little power blogging today.  While doing this I realized I've got to keep up.  I haven't written many of the cute things the kids have said because I have a terrible memory.  So I'm hoping a picture is worth a thousand words.  From this post back to Christmas Eve is an overview of what's been going on.

What I've done since blogging last:  I've gotten into knitting & sewing.  I'm loving both of them.  Here's some of my projects:

Presidents Day

This Presidents Day everyone wrote down 1 thing they wanted to do today.  Then we put them in an order that we could try to get to them all.  However to Kimballs (Craig was his partner) dismay the tennis courts were all booked.  So as we drove down the street we decided to take the kids roller skating instead.  We realized we had never took them.  So in we went.  It was quite the event.  McKay loved it from the get go.  Josie was doing quite well on the skate but my back started to hurt from trying to hold her & Kimball up so I traded their skated for trainer roller skates.  Abby who I thought would love it.  Hated it.  She cried and wined the whole time because she couldn't get it.  Kimball started yelling at the teenagers playing the video games because he wanted the car one.  I was so embarrassed.  I've never know a two year old not to be afraid of, lets face it, the scary tanagers who hang out at places like that.  I'm scared of them.  I don't think I'll be taking them back anytime soon.  The funny thing is if you ask Abby if she had fun, she'll say she loved it, and ask when we're going back.  I almost forgot to top it off, some girl asked McKay to skate.  Yikes!! He handled it perfect asked Josie to skated instead.  That freaked me out, and Craig probably worse.

Mrs. Jackie O.

The 2nd grade just finished their wax museum.  Abby chose to learn about Jackie Kennedy Onassis.  On her page at school she wrote that she chose her "because my Grandmas daughter was her when she was little".  Mrs. Nelson & I both thought that was a cute way of saying her Aunt Whitney had been her as well.

Abby worked so hard on her poster, & reading book about her.  I took video of her oral presentation but somehow I had it on condense.  So it's all in high speed.  Bummer.

So Fun!

They took Justin tubing up at Soldier Hollow.  It sounded like they all had a great time.  Justin took some video.  Listening to them makes me smile.

"It's Snowing"

When you're a mom of four little kids, sometimes you would love just 5 minutes of quite.  And then when it happens you know somethings wrong.  After just such a moment I went looking.  I started to freak out, I couldn't find Kimball anywhere.  Then as I walked down the hall again I realized that the laundry room door was closed and it's normally open.  When I opened it I was greeted with the fresh wonderful smell of Tide & a little boy saying "Look Mom, it's snowing".  I tried not to laugh, but I couldn't get mad.  He's so cute and funny.

Thanksgiving Point

We took Justin to see the Dinosaur Museum @ Thanksgiving Point.
After he took us to Chadders!  Thanks Justin.  It was a fun day.

Craig's Mate

Justin came to visit us again this year!  We all enjoy his happy go lucky spirit.  As fun as it is for Craig to have a mate come to visit, the kids I think love it more.  They start a count down calendar two months before he comes.  He's such a good sport!  Thanks for coming Justin!  See you next year.
