That crazy McKay and Abby
Last Friday I had the girls on the tennis team over for a new year team dinner. After dinner we were playing a board game down stairs. Things were a little chaotic with the competition of the game that was going on. I was pretty focused on the game and almost didn't notice McKay and Abby sneaking around behind me and drop a bag on the ground right were the majority of the girls were. After a brief moment of thought, wondering what they were up to I realized that inside the bag was probably McKay's pet lizard Freddie. I asked one of the girls sitting closest to the bag to peak in and see if Freddie was indeed in there. This got the attention of the rest of the girls. Chie looked inside none to cautiously which was surprising to me since when she saw Freddie in there she proceeded to jump higher then I would have thought possible from her sitting position. In addition, Jocelyn sitting on the couch behind her screamed and jumped as well which scared the rest of the girls who all joined in. As I turned to see were McKay and Abby were all I could hear was there giggling. This all just reinforced McKay and Abby's joy in playing tricks on people. Of which I am becoming the victim of way to often.
"One touch of nature makes the whole world kin"
Today was such a wonderful sabbath. We had stake conference that was actually broad casted from the Marriott Center to all the stakes in Utah & Wasatch county. It was wonderful! (minus the normal mishaps from the kids) They all told wonderful stories. Elder Packer spoke of the times he lived and raised his kids here in our little Lindon. Sis. Dibb spoke about the "real things" of life. Pres. Uchtdorf made me laugh when he told us how when flying from Germany to L.A. as they flew over Provo he would get on the public address system and let everyone know they were flying over BYU. He said that being the flight captain was great because he had control of the address system. The spirit in the meeting was wonderful. I'm so grateful to be a member of this church. I love my Savior. I am grateful for the sacrifices my ancestors made for me. To be married to a worthy priesthood holder & have temples so close for us. How did I get so lucky?
Mom, Kat & Whit came over for dinner. The kids love when they come to visit. After that we decided to go for a drive up the canyon to see if any leaves had changed yet. (McKay chose to stay home.) We walked around Sundance.
As we walked to the pond it was picturesque. A man was drawing next to the pond and waterfall. While looking @ the fish he started feeding the fish bread from lunch. The fish were going crazy. He noticed how mesmerizing it was for the kids.
He was so kind. He showed the girls how to feed them & gave them the rest of the bread to break off and throw. They were going almost crazier then the fish. As we walked around I showed Josie some wild flowers, when she smelled them
she told me how bad they stunk. Kimball loved the place.
Poor Craig was constantly chasing him around. Abby loved the peace as much as Craig & I.

Trip to the US Open
McKenzie and I had the opportunity to go to the US Open this past weekend. I was looking forward to this trip to educate myself on the modern game and McKenzie loves New York. It was a great weekend, I have been watching Federer and Nadal closely for years but had never seen them live. We arrived late on Thursday night, our flight was delayed. Thanks to the generosity of some friends McKenzie and I were picked up from the airport in a limo. It was fun and a ton easier then catching a cab. By the time we got to our hotel it was after 9pm. We walked up a couple of blocks to time square and bought some great food on the way (cheese pizza for me. I don't why but I love New York pizza, I crave it). The next day McKenzie and I went with our friends to the Open.
We got their at 11am and got back to the hotel at 1am in the morning. During that 14 hour time span we watched Federer, Janokvic, Roddick, Davenport, and many others. Also we had the opportunity, again due to the generosity of others, to have a great meal while we were there. I had a $68 lobster. Wow. For me it was the greatest of days. The next day I did the same thing 11 to probably 12 this time, watched Nadal, Safina, Murry etc, etc. Loved it again. Even got to sit court side for the Blake - Fish match. I could go on for ever. It was just AWESOME. McKenzie went with friends to two Broadway shows - Legally Blond and The Little Mermaid. She said she loved it but it couldn't have been as good as watching Nadal. The last day we went to Serendipity and had a frozen hot chocolate. McKenzie had been politely expressing her desire to go to this place which I was happy to attempt to work into the schedule without really understanding what it was about. Our friends walked with us to the Serendipity restaurant. Once we arrived they didn't feel the need to come in (it is a very small and unappealing restaurant from first impressions). I have to admit I was thinking myself this frozen hot chocolate can't be that good. Our friends left to go eat down the road and even called to let us know that they had seats for us when we were ready. Mate, once we got that frozen hot chocolate Serendipity will be the first place we stop on our next trip to NY.
It is just a drink, but it was amazing. All in all NY never seems to disappoint. Loved the food, the tennis, the company, and the FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE.
Oh that Kimball
The other day I made myself some eggs on toast. Just as I sat down I heard the crack of an egg. It grabbed all my attention for the reason that no one else was upstairs with me except Kimball who is still not one yet. I turned swiftly as you could imagine and sure enough there is Kimball on a stool, cracking an egg on the frying pan, ready to cook himself some food. This kid is our fourth child and I have never seen such determination and focus. Needless to say I am a little worried about the teenage years if he makes it that far. I feel like most of my time at home is spent protecting him from himself. Love that Kimball
